Project Description
Beaches
The Doesstrand in Het Twiske
The Doesstrand is a lovely beach, where you can swim, play and sunbathe.
This beach, the first after the Oostzaan main entrance, is one of the seven beautiful and fun beaches in Het Twiske. It is a wonderful place to relax near Amsterdam, Landsmeer and Oostzaan.
The beaches are also called green beaches, because the sand changes to grass. The beach slopes gently and the shallow part of the water is separated by buoys. There is no supervision, so please take care with small children.
Vennegat in Het Twiske
A cooling dip at the Vennegat. Enjoy a picnic with your family in summer on this quiet beach. The water provides cooling on hot days. The Vennegat is a quiet family beach in the shape of a horseshoe. De Does kiosk is within walking distance, where you can buy snacks and ice cream and there is a toilet building.
Children can play in the sand all day long. In warm weather, they can also enjoy playing and swimming in the water. Buoys in the bay separate the shallow end from the deeper end. There is no supervision, so please pay close attention.
To ensure everyone can have a good time, no dogs are allowed on the beach. Barbecuing is allowed south of the Vennegat, not on the beach itself.
Leers Beach in Het Twiske
You can paddle or sunbathe on the small De Leers peninsula. Besides swimming, you can surf, dive and sail here.
De Leers is a small peninsula bordering the Stootersplas. The beach on De Leers is one of the seven beautiful and fun beaches in Het Twiske. The beach slopes gently and the shallow part of the water is separated by buoys. There is no supervision, so please pay close attention.
There are diving platforms and all kinds of interesting diving objects in the water. For lessons and sound advice, go to the Down Under Diving Centre or Pottidiving Diving School. Next to the beach is a boat ramp where you can launch your surfboard or boat.
Or just relax on the beach and work on your tan, while enjoying the crowds on the water from a distance. But be aware, Scottish Highlanders roam the area, so don’t be alarmed if you suddenly see a big, red, hairy cow!
Kure-Jan Beach in Het Twiske
The Kure-Jan is a large beach where you can sunbathe, swim or float on your lilo on the Stootersplas. There is no supervision, so please pay close attention. Do you feel like getting active after all the relaxing? Stretch your legs and walk across the adjacent breakwater.
On the Kure-Jan beach, you will find one of the two diving sites in Het Twiske. This diving site is also suitable for novice divers and disabled people. You can make beautiful shore dives here and get acquainted with the underwater world of the Stootersplas.
Schoorlstrand in Het Twiske
Young and old can relax on the quiet Schoorlstrand beach on the Stootersplas. The Schoorlstrand is one of the beautiful and fun beaches in Het Twiske. It is a fun family beach, where people of all ages will feel at home.
All beaches in Het Twiske are a combination of sand and grass. You will find sand near water and this changes to grass further way from the water. That is why the beaches in Het Twiske are also called green beaches. The beach slopes gently and the shallow part of the water is separated by buoys. There is no supervision, so please pay close attention.
