Recreational area Het Twiske

North of Amsterdam between Zaandam and Purmerend is recreational area Het Twiske with an area of 650 hectares. The area consists one third of water and offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, diving, surfing and sailing. There are beaches, an adventure and water playground, a diving platform, a harbour, a petting farm and a windmill. Recreation area het Twiske is also recommended if you enjoy walking or cycling in a natural environment. There is a good chance you will encounter Scottish Highlanders in the quiet areas. But you will be particularly amazed by the many water birds; both in summer and winter.
